Now that the sun is making an appearance here and there, almost everyone I know is "talking holidays". With our unpredictable weather it's no wonder we Brits are obsessed with holidays abroad. By this time of year we're all desperate to see the sun and shed a few layers.

I'm not a lover of holidays abroad (I know I'm unusual) and usually holiday in this country but I'm aware of how tricky it is now to take our beauty products abroad.

Weight restrictions are necessary but can prove to be a challenge if you're away for a fortnight.

However many companies are now recognizing this and there are many really good brands which cater for our travel needs. High-end skincare brands such as Liz Earle, Elemis and Decleor all do travel sizes so there's no need to let your routine slip when you're away. And there is so much choice on the High street now, in small, travel acceptable sizes from skin care, to hair care, to sun care. I can find all my usual favourites from John Frieda at Boots, who also do a great range in Mark Hill, Umberto Gianni and other top stylist ranges, all in suitable travel quantities.

Lynx even do a mini shower gel for boys & men to take away. Check out Soltans travel size factor 30 spray in 75ml sizes and even Colgate offer their advanced clean toothpaste in a dinky 25ml size. Toni & Guy have a little mini hair serum - usually essential in the heat and also a tiny hairspray. Soap and Glory from Boots have practically their whole range in travel sizes and even Johnson's baby shampoo is available for little ones abroad.

You can even fake your tan whilst you're away if you're too busy to sunbathe with Famous Dave's spray tan travel size (handy if it pours down!) FCUK do a handy weekend getaway kit containing body wash, body lotion and body spray in their new Signature Collection, an exotic oriental fragrance which will double up as perfume.

If you're planning a holiday romance then you'll need Listerene's Mini Mouthwash. If you're a lady who can't do without her luxury products on holiday then Estee Lauder have several beautiful collections in a handy see-through travel bag containing all you should need to keep your holiday skin beautiful. And don't forget to check out our own range of travel hair tools from the Ice Diamond Dare collections containing both dryers and straighteners.

I always like to take new bathing products away on holiday - it somehow adds to the atmosphere of lazy days and the fragrance change can be really uplifting. This year I'm taking the gorgeous Champney's Mediterranean Bliss range to indulge in that fabulous spa-like smell and feel. I've had a sneaky try-out and I absolutely loved them all, especially the Shimmering Body Oil which smells divine. I'll also be taking my new 'best buy' - an YSL lipstick in a shade called Silky Apricot. There's no doubt about it, orange is definitely the hottest colour of the moment - in clothes, nails, handbags and yes, even lips. Gone are the bright reds of winter, anyone who is anyone this year is opting for orange.

So I'm following on behind. Although I'm ready to wear bright oranges and corals I wasn't sure about them on my lips so I've gone for the YSL one which is highly moisturizing and a softer look.

Changing your lip shade is essential if you wear orange as the pinks, plums and reds just do not go. If you can't do coral then go for a nude, but trust me, all the fashionista's are sporting strong orange lips such as Ruby and Millie Orange 350. If you're on a budget or just want an occasional flirtation with the colour go for Barry M's Lip Paint in coral.

Whatever the weather this summer don't forget your sun protection, which can be harmful even through cloud cover. Check out our Health & Wellbeing page for all your sun care needs.
