I'm
really in a great mood this week!
You know that feeling when you know you've
had a really great bargain and a lucky
break all in one. I was so upset the other
week to find that a gorgeous coat that
I'd had my eye on had been put into the
sale (without anyone telling me!) and
that my size had sold out completely.
It was virtually half price so undefeated
I practically ran all the way home to
order it on the internet before they all
sold. To my horror they had all sold and
there was no more stock expected. That's
it, I thought, gone forever.
I tried to console myself by looking at
other coats but it was no good, I'd fallen
in love and nothing could mend my broken
heart. So imagine my joy when on a shopping
trip with my sister in Manchester I spotted
the bright pink creation if the far corner
of a department outlet store. My pace
quickened as did my heart rate as I positively
trotted over to the rail.
I know they wouldn't have my size but
hope was alive once more. And there it
was! Just one! Unbelievable. I put it
on immediately and I was in love all over
again. When my sister caught up she said
'it's a little bright isn't it?' There
were no kitchen knives in this part of
the store, so I couldn't stab her, so
I just gave her my most frozen face and
said 'it's not bright! It's beautiful!
And what's more, it's mine!'
I
didn't take it off while I was in the
queue and only gave it up when the man
insisted he had to scan the label. Although
he looked perfectly normal I knew he wasn't,
as he informed me that as it was in the
sale I wouldn't be able to return it.
Return it? Was he mad? Didn't he know
how far I'd come to get it and what hell
my life had been without it? Obviously
not but he was male so I thought I'd let
him off this time.
I didn't buy another single thing that
day but I didn't care, the journey was
more than worth it. I've worn the beautiful
coat all week. I do have other coats,
quite a few actually but I'm wearing this
one constantly until the novelty wears
off.
I've bought both a lipstick and nail varnish
to match it and brought out a beautiful
silk scarf I have that has an element
of the pink colour in it. You know the
moral of the tale is that if you really
do fall in love with an item, whatever
it is then you really should buy it when
you see it.
We tend to buy a lot of things which we
like, or that 'will do' but how often
do we really love what we buy? It's these
things that give us the most pleasure
- when we can look in a mirror and say
'I really love that' it can be a real
boost of confidence. I've learned my lesson
and in future I'm going to stop dilly-dallying
and reach for my purse as soon as I fall
in love.
