until smooth and frothy, Pour into a glass and decorate with
chopped hazelnuts.
If you've had your fill
of turkey this festive season, why not try to rustle up something
tasty from the fish world. Scallops are in season during the
winter months and are a lovely, very easy way to enjoy fish
and a grilled, whole plaice is a nutritious and delicious alternative
to meat and poultry. Short of time? Fish is one of the quickest
meals to cook - try our tasty Prawn Stir-Fry, which can be prepared
and cooked in less than 10 minutes. |

New
Year is a good time to take a look at how clean your kitchen
really is. After the festive season, when fridge's and cupboards
are usually full to bursting, it's a good idea to thoroughly
clean the fridge, checking all sell-by dates and cleaning
with an anti-bacterial agent. Take out all goods from the
main good cupboard, wipe clean and return food in an orderly
fashion - that way, the more obscure items bought at Christmas,
such as pickled cucumbers, don't get forgotten about. And
don't forget the microwave. Either use a recommended cleaner
for microwaves or plain bicarbonate of soda. |
Throw away all threadbare, tatty dishcloths and tea towels and replace
your oven gloves and aprons. Plastic polyboards and glass surface
savers are more hygienic than wooden chopping boards so replacing
these is a good idea. Check all tea and coffee mugs for chips -
these harbour bacteria - and renew if necessary. It's easy to keep
placing new packets of biscuits in the tin each week but don't forget
to clean the tin periodically. Tins don't fare too well in the dishwasher
but wash quickly in detergent and make sure time is bone-dry before
putting biscuits back in to avoid rusting - turning upside down
on a radiator is a good way.
Don't wait for spring to have a good clear out in the kitchen, set
aside an hour or two now and start the year afresh.
