Got an attack of
the munchies? It's all too easy to grab
a chocolate bar or crisps and biscuits, but if
you're really trying to cut out these traditionally
poor snacks then it really is quick and easy to
whip up something a bit tastier.
Toast is the ideal snack food and with a bit of
imagination you can grab a really easy-make filler.
Try a slice of granary bread toast topped with

chopped
spring onion, a small squeeze of lemon and plenty
of black pepper. Grill for 2-3 minutes - delicious!
Sardines not to your taste? Try a slice of ham,
chopped onion , an Edam slice and spread thinly
with mustard - pile on top of an English muffin
or sesame seed bun and grill for 2 mins until
cheese bubbles.
For a sweet alternative, pile thinly sliced dessert
apple and sliced pears on top of raisin bread
of a fruit bun, sprinkle over ground cinnamon
and a quick sprinkle of icing sugar. Grill for
2-3 minutes until lightly caramelised.
Food on toast is a healthier and more filling
alternative to convenience snack food - its cheaper
too, and makes an excellent quick food for hungry
kids after school, especially if you let them
choose their own toppings from the fridge. |
