Want
to try something different?
Give chicory a go - it is mild yet bitter at the
same time, adding a little zest to salads. Use
with other lettuce to add more flavour or wrapped
in ham and grilled until cook through.

If
you always automatically choose the breast
fillets or chicken, why not give the thigh or
drumstick meats a try.
Thigh meat has a stronger flavour than breast
and is wonderfully tender when cooked slowly in
gravy on a low oven - it also has the added bonus
of being far less expensive.

Spinach,
although wonderfully healthy, can sometimes seem unappealing
if cooked incorrectly, leaving it looking a wet, sorry
mess on the plate. For best results use the 'dry cook'
method below.
Melt a little oil in a frying pan on a medium
heat.
Toss in the spinach and leave for 30 seconds.
Stir leaves around gently and cook for a further
30 seconds.
Serve immediately. |
This
avoids the sogginess and if you prefer bags of spinach
that can be micro-waved in 10 seconds are available
at supermarkets. |
