To be really
uber-trendy this season then you
must try the drop dead red lip and nail
look this season.
Red always comes to the forefront at this
time of year, but this year, with the re-birth
of all things burlesque then it has to be
red. Do be careful to match lips and nails
perfectly for the most chic look and do
go bright!
Pillar-box red is the key. Tone down the
rest of your make-up to really let the colour
speak for itself - just add lashings of
black mascara.
For an evening look a soft grey smoky eye
will really vamp up the red lips.
For a fab daytime look be sure to carry
a really bold red handbag, possibly wet
patent a' la Lulu Guinness, and if you're
brave enough red opaque tights are all the
rage on the catwalks. If you're a girl who
likes to be noticed then go for it!
At this time of the year it's vitally
important to protect the face from the onset
of harsh weather. Skin really hates dramatic
changes in temperature so coming from a
heated room into cold, windy weather really
takes its toll; it loses moisture and can
develop red patches and thread veins.
If you've been using a light moisturiser
in summer then step it up a grade in autumn.
Moisturiser doesn't just hydrate the skin
but provides a barrier between you and the
weather. If you find choosing a moisturiser
difficult then start somewhere like the
L'Oreal stand.
They have so many really good moisturisers
- just read the different advice to see
which category you fit into best. If you
are trying creams then don't try on the
back of your hand, this skin is totally
different to that on your face. Either try
onto the jaw line or on the inner wrist
where the skin is more like face skin.
Always wait 2-3 minutes to see how well
the cream sinks in - in you feel you need
to re-apply then you need a richer formula,
if the cream sits on the skin and looks
shiny you may need a lighter or matte formula.
With
winter on its way
many of us are losing a little colour and
now's a good time to pump up the volume
with our make-up. The nudes are still really
big for winter in clothing but you may feel
the nudes in make-up are washing you out
after summer.
You can still co-ordinate by introducing
some richer neutrals into your palette.
Look out for darker beiges or chocolate
browns for nails and glossy browns for lips.
Conker shades team beautifully with all
the creams and sand neutrals in clothing
and peachy tones for blusher always look
better in winter than the pink shades which
can make you look cold and 'pinched'.
