A day in the Sassoon Academy
NHF Inspire Attends Sassoon Welcome Day
With the new mentoring year ahead, the NHF Inspire team attended the first of many motivating and educational days with UK Creative Director, Bruce Masefield and the Sassoon Creative Team.
With a full-on day, the day started with a presentation by Bruce Masefield, Colour Director Caroline Spencer and Creative Director Davide Scarna demonstrating the fundamentals and foundations of Sassoon ABC cutting and colouring techniques through two colouring and three cutting live model demonstrations.

Part of the year ahead will see the NHF Inspire team shoot a collection with Bruce and the Sassoon Creative Team, so the day also incorporated a presentation of the A/W 09 and latest S/S 10 hair Collections and the process undertaken to achieve the globally recognised Collections - everything from brainstorming ideas, concept sketches, tear sheets, mood boards, step by step cut and colour concepts, stylist swatches, lighting, posing, models, makeup plus much more.
The NHF Inspire team were then actively encouraged to start thinking of their shoot ahead - how they'll find their own in-house models, how they should be meticulous in everything they do as a team and individual in the salon and of course taking time to brainstorm as a team what the shoot should accomplish. For the next team gathering, everyone will present their own mood board and thoughts on how it should progress ready for everyone to comment and agree on. "I felt a real positive vibe from the room - on both sides of the teams. Even after just one day, we're already coming together as a team and understanding each of our aims," explained Bruce. "As the NHF Inspire they are inspiring others all the time as a team so that's exciting for us at Sassoon and what we're all going to continue focusing on this year,"
The day concluded with an overview of the Sassoon Academy and a tour around their educational academies.
"The feedback from everyone involved was so positive," explained Rebecca Dickenson NHF Inspire Manager, "the atmosphere was buzzing with ideas and the talk quickly moved to how the day could be incorporated into the team's upcoming events such as the NHF Championships in Cardiff and the NHF Conference later in the year. We're also starting talks about regional seminars for the NHF so members can expect to see some truly inspiring seminars from the NHF Inspire following the mentoring days."
