Harringtons Silver Celebrations
1985 - 2010 SILVER CELEBRATION! Haringtons charts 25 years of salon success
This year sees top hairdressing name Haringtons celebrate 25-years of success - and this south east England salon group and its 250-strong workforce has much to be proud of!
Since opening salon number one in Maidenhead in 1985, the company has grown into an impressive group of 12 salons*, each one recognised for delivering fashionable, feminine, wearable hair and brilliant customer service.
Haringtons has developed to become an award-winning group of salons, recognised by the professional hair industry and the consumer alike for flawless hairdressing and brilliant customer care.
"We've built a really strong brand image and invest considerably in team training to make sure we deliver very high standards of hair and excellent customer service," says director David Lambert.
"The approach we take is for staff to really listen to clients to ensure they leave with the cut and colour they've always wanted and experience the most enjoyable time possible while they are with us," explains David, a dab hand himself with foils, bleach, tint brush and bowl.
And it's consistency of standards across all 12 salons which helps secure Haringtons' reputation. Each salon's manager and assistant manager keep on top of staff education and skills needs, while the receptionist makes customer care a key priority. A head office team of five oversee, monitor and measure all business activities, while two key regional support managers supervise the salons and make sure everything is holistic in its approach.
Looking alike but with their individual characteristics, all Haringtons salons present minimalist yet comfortable interiors. Colour ways are soft taupe, cream and limestone with a mocha accent. Serene, calm and relaxing, senso and air massage chairs from LSE are at the backwashes, with four of the salons boasting KéraSpas delivering luxurious, personalised Kérastase treatments. L'Oréal Professionnel, Redken and Pureology brands are used and retailed in all the salons.
Continuing to add to its string of awards year on year - from the British Hairdressing Awards to the L'Oréal Colour Trophy - Haringtons is also the only hairdressing company to ever be recognised and awarded by The Sunday Times as being one of the Top 50 small companies to work for. Which is why it has such a high staff retention rate (85% are home grown, 15% recruited) including people who've been with the company from the start.
So what's on Haringtons horizon for the coming 25 years? "Well we have four more potential franchises in the pipeline," says award-winning stylist and director Robert Smith. "And although we're not aiming for UK domination or anything, a maximum of 30 salons in the south east would be nice..."
*The company owned Haringtons salons are in Maidenhead, Marlow, Windsor, Beaconsfield, Reading, Winchester, Southampton and London; the franchised Haringtons salons are in: Henley, Wokingham, Wendover and Northwood.
