Glamourise your hair • Glamourise your hair with a fringe it’s the most modern way to update your look. A long blunt fringe can be softened by using a round brush to add fullness and roundness. Use the cool setting on your hairdryer to set. An asymmetric fringe is also a good choice; try breaking up the texture a little with some wax and secure the rest of your hair in a ponytail. • A short, sleek bob can be the epitome of glam but requires attention to detail for maximum effect. When you visit the salon, ask your hairdresser to teach you the best methods for styling. They will be able to advise you on the right products for your hair type and the brushes and appliances which will produce the best results. • If you have long hair, give your style a sexy asymmetric finish like silver screen legend Veronica Lake. Blow-dry straight, then use large heated tongs to add bouncy curls through the ends of the hair. Pull a few blobs of styling cream through the lengths, then twist loosely and pull forward to sit over one shoulder. • A hot oil treatment or hair mask can add amazing shine to hair which is looking a little lacklustre. Apply all over damp hair and comb through using a wide toothed comb to achieve even distribution. Then wrap head in a warm towel or clingfilm and wait for ten or fifteen minutes to allow the product to penetrate. Rinse well and then get ready to dazzle. • Unfortunately, creating a glam style can often mean lots of heat styling, whether it be with a blow dryer, flat iron, curling tong or hot air styler. This can lead to hair which is dry and brittle- certainly not a glam look-so always be sure to protect the hair with a leave in product before styling. • A style is always in fabulous condition always looks stunning and this is best achieved with a good care regime. Get your hair trimmed regularly; the timing can differ for everyone and can be anything from every four to ten weeks, so keep an eye on the ends and book in a cut when the hair is looking a little tired. You don’t have to loose loads of length - just enough to keep the hair healthy. • In order to look truly chic, colour should always look as clean and fresh as possible. This can be best achieved by using moisturising shampoos and conditioners designed to lock in the shade. Use a chelating shampoo once in a while to deep-clean the hair of all residue that can build up from products and environmental pollution and also try care and styling products aimed at boosting your specific colour. • Glitter sprays have a reputation for being a little tacky but providing you choose one in a sophisticated shade such as silver or gold, they can look surprisingly pretty. Try out a few before buying; you want one that leaves a twinkling dust of shimmer, not big particles of sparkle. Mist lightly over your style, rather than directly onto it, to avoid huge clumps of product and take care not to get any on your clothes. • “On wavy or curly hair use a serum which coats each hair with a fine film of silicone to smooth the cuticle, eliminate frizz, help create texture and add incredible shine” says Trevor Sorbie. “Warm a few drops between your palms and distribute evenly through wet or dry hair working from ends upwards.” • Volume is back and can give your style an instantly glamorous effect; think modern day Bardot, as seen on kylie and Kate Moss. Spritz plenty of body-building spray into the roots of rough dried hair, or try a mousse for all-over volume. Use a large barrel brush to blow-dry the hair section by section, lifting at the crown, smoothing the lengths and rotating through the ends to create soft flicks.
