Caterina DiBiase named 2009
Australian Hairdresser of the Year
Caterina DiBiase from Heading Out Hair & Beauty in Melbourne was
recently named the 2009 Australian Hairdresser of the Year, as part
of the Schwarzkopf Professional Hair Expo Hairdressing Awards. The
ultimate recognition for any Australian hairdresser, Caterina took
this year's title at a spectacular gala ceremony in Darling Harbour,
hosted by Tom Williams.
Beating nine other finalists to clinch the award, Caterina said;
"The enormous talent of Australian hairdressers is renowned around
the world and that's why it's such an honour to be recognised as
Australian Hairdresser of the Year. It's my passion and the dream
that I love - and it's great to have that recognition from my peers."

Australian
Hairdresser of the Year is the most coveted award at Hair
Expo and is judged by a panel of independent industry experts.
The decision takes into account all aspects of the entrant's
hairdressing career, from their photographic collection
to prior recognition and involvement in the industry.

No stranger
to success, Caterina won Australian Hairdresser of the Year at Hair Expo
in 2007. This year she also takes the Hair Expo award for Best Photographic
Collection. This category is judged purely on the creativity and artistic
talent portrayed in the entrant's photographic collection, against every
submission received during the judging period.
Celebrating their 24th anniversary this year, the annual Hairdressing
Awards at Hair Expo are the most respected, established and longest running
awards in the Australian hair industry. These 'Oscars' of the hair world
set the industry standard and are the pinnacle of hairdressing excellence.
From this year they are exclusively sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional.

the highest accolade. They're recognised internationally as the benchmark

Winners
announced in all 13 categories for the 25th annual Hairdressing
Awards included Alexandra Kontos from Nischler salon for Apprentice
of the Year and Jason Fassbender of Parlour Hair for New Creative
Force. Anthony and Susa Wynne-Hoelscher from Culture magazine were
inducted into the Hair Expo Hall of Fame, celebrating their contribution
to the industry. Details of each winner and their salon are listed
below.
The awards gala was preceded by an awe-inspiring show from Schwarzkopf
Professional, showcasing 11 decades of couture in hair and fashion.
The event wraps up the 34th year of Hair Expo Australia; the premier
hairdressing event in the Southern Hemisphere. Over 10,000 visitors
flocked to Darling Harbour to see more than

10,000 square
metres of world-class exhibitors, education and shows from international
and local hairdressing stars and the latest and greatest the industry has
to offer.
