The Greatest

Hairdressing Show on Earth

Our team came away buzzing and are still talking about the inspiration and talent of the performers in the greatest hairdressing show on earth. The live shows where enthralling and the wizardry of the industries top stylists kept everyone spellbound. Hairdressers from 56 countries around the world including Brazil, Japan, Argentina and Russia converged upon London to attend the world's greatest hairdressing exhibition - Salon International. For three days ExCeL London was the epicentre of inspiration, product development, education and motivation for tens of thousands of hairdressers.

With over 250 exhibitors, The Hair Show had something for everyone. Show stopping live stages from HJ, Wahl UK and The Fellowship for British Hairdressing, BaByliss, Racoon International, Schwarzkopf Professional and FHI HEAT ensured the audience was entertained and inspired. On stand demonstrations from Toni & Guy, Keune, Corioliss, Osmo Ikon, Denman, Balmain, Rusk, Kemon and TIGI allowed visitors to get up close and personal in order to see the latest techniques and product developments. This year, HJ's British Hairdressing Awards Gallery
was bigger and better than ever with six images from each of the finalists and all eight images from the British Hairdresser of the Year nominees images presented in the Gallery, on the HJ stand and on the Schwarzkopf Professional stand.

INNOVATIONS & DEVELOPMENT
For salons looking for new innovations or to develop their business, The Hair Show had it all - from Easydry Disposable Towels to Procare Foils and Alan D Education. The widest selection of combs, brushes, dryers, straighteners and scissors were available, and for salon owners looking for a new computer system there was an exceptional choice for the discerning shopper. The New Exhibitors Zone showcased many new hairdressing innovations such as the Neo-Cape Cutting Collar and the Big Brush Company was the perfect place to find the next big thing.

FHI HEAT
Salon owners and managers had their own haven of peace within the Salon Owners' Lounge sponsored by FHI HEAT, a quiet corner where salon owners and managers could catch up with each other, network and take time out to plan their day.

The Interiors Zone provided salon owners with a wealth of inspiration for a salon refit. Experts from Aston & Fincher, Takara Belmont, Sally Salon Services, Dir Salon and LSE were on hand to provide advice on everything from salon design to selecting suitable backwash units

TONI & GUY
Salon Live presented some of the greatest names in hairdressing. The Toni & Guy Artistic Team presented their new collection Flux, showcasing multiple textures and colours with variations in width, height and length together with spectacular avant garde hair and looks translated from London Fashion Week

SASSOON ACADEMY
Sassoon Academy presented by Sassoon Professional showed an amazing array of models sporting looks from their latest collection Deconstructionism. Inspired by a combination of the renaissance in Florence in the 1450's and the Antwerp Six in the mid 90's, the collection showed strong internal shapes that were personalised and complemented with key colour tones including violet bled with red and blood orange, or a fusion of blue greys and slate tones.

PATRICK CAMERON
Long hair master, Patrick Cameron presented by Wella Professionals, launched his Prestige Collection at Salon International. Inspired by Hollywood starlets of the 40's and 50's and modern day diva Dita Von Teese, Patrick wowed the crowd, making his techniques look simple to undertake, yet producing stunning results encouraging everyone who attended to take up dressing long hair.
TIM HARTLEY
Simplistic elegance was the theme for Tim Hartley's Salon Live presentation. Tim joined forces with colourist Tracy Hayes and Kiyoshi Inoue from Environment to create a show that was inspired by both the 60's and the 80's, presenting modern classics with a Tim Hartley twist.

TIGI
Inspirational Youth presented by TIGI was the culmination of a year long journey for 12 up and coming hairdressers that included training, coaching and mentoring - the end result being this fantastic show, which showed just how far they had come in such a short time.

At the Salon Seminars, three of the UK's most experienced and innovative education teams - Mahogany, hob and Rush London presented by Goldwell, showcased their latest collections in an intimate and inspirational seminar environment.

MAHOGANY
For their Salon Seminars presentation, Mahogany created illusions with their Optec Collection. Using optical illusions in hair shapes, Mahogany created looks that play with curves, asymmetry and geometric shapes. Colour is also key within the Optec Collection and the team presented their two new colouring techniques - geo-curve and geo-wave.

HOB
hob education presented their Conscious Cutting approach to education and presented their signature precision cutting techniques on beautifully coloured heads.

RUSH
The Rush London Artistic Team presented by Goldwell showcased Technature, a collection that takes inspiration from nature, fused with on-trend animal prints giving hair an almost fur like texture and Static Movement, which combines strength with movement and fuse fluidity with Rush's signature strengths. Colour played an important part within both collections utilising tones of violet, blue and green along with deep mahogany and copper, which gave hair a completely different dimension and texture .

BUSINESS EXTRA
Business Extra, sponsored by Salon Genius provided business education at its best. Jon MacLeod started the sessions by showing salon owners how to find the stars within each company and develop them to boost profits without busting the bank.

Peter Lunn gave ideas on improving the performance of the team and ultimately the business and provided attendees with a four point plan to keep clients returning time and time again.

Sean Hanna shared his 10 Key Elements to Successful Marketing and encouraged salon owners to use effective communication within their marketing strategy.

Alan Austin-Smith presented the Fantastic Revolution. The seminar was based on Alan's philosophy - if you want change - change something! Four very different Business Extra seminars which couldn't fail to inspire and motivate.
