TV’s favourite hairdresser Andrew Barton says
“Posh is over the crop”

TV’s favourite hairdresser Andrew Barton says it looks like Posh is over her short crop and ready to make the headlines with a new ‘do’. Known for her ever changing locks Victoria has done it again and pulled off a sleek, sassy, striking look that perfectly complements her skinny frame and signature silhouette dresses.

Stealing yet again from the Hepburn archives it’s a great look that will make her feel in control whilst she’s growing her hair. Which is what she’s up to at the moment and to ease the growing pains from her cute crop it’s a great idea to wear the hair up. Wearing hair up like this isn’t for everyone as the look can be severe, but with full make-up on, towering heels and perfectly cut attire it screams glamour, success and ‘I’m in control’.

The secret to the look and a secret in many fashion savvy image conscious women’s hair wardrobe is the clip-in hair weft or hair extension. Based on the traditional top notch idea – clip-in hair to be used when you need it, is all the rage. They are perfect for adding volume, length or colour.

Victoria is definitely wearing clip-in extensions. They are an easy way of adding glamour or going gorgeous without busting the budget.

Everyone from Victoria to Cheryl Cole, Madonna to catwalk models wear clip-ins to add instant colour, length or volume to their hair and they are the secret to most magazine shoots.

They are so simple to use and are easily disguised so no one would ever know.

Here’s how to steal Posh’s classic and stunning look:

Prep of the hair is essential.

1. First blowdry the hair smooth with a mousse to bind the hair together making it really easy to style and hold shape for longer. The great thing about this Victoria look is that once in place it lasts all night.

2. Once the hair has been blow-dried clip in the hair extensions to the crown area, for this look you may need 2 -3 packs. The more hair you use the bigger and thicker the Top Notch will look.

3. With the hair extensions in place scrape all of the hair into a very high ponytail. If like Victoria, you are growing your hair you may find it hard to scrape the hair up from your hairline, don’t worry, apply more mousse into your hands and smear over the hair in this area to help you to fix that hair. With the pony tail in place, gently back comb the tail and start to wrap the hair around the tail piece anti clockwise.

4. Continue wrapping the hair around until all the hair is coiled and secure the ends of the hair and coil to the base of the ponytail with Kirby grips.

5. Finally use a hairspray to fix the whole style. To achieve the glossy look that Victoria has, spray the hairspray approx 2 inches away from the hair all over and leave the spray to dry this will fix and hold the hair all night.

6. It’s a cool look that is perfect for the coming season of glamour, with X-factor due back on TV get ready for lots of glamour looks from Cheryl Cole and Danni Minogue. It’s tailored and sculptured exactly what we saw on the catwalk.

Other top tips include:

Ask your hairdresser to show you how to achieve this look the first time, you’ll have it up in a matter of minutes after that.

Invest in a 3-way mirror at home so that you can see what you’re doing and how it looks from all angles.

The look can be achieved in a matter of minutes.

The look is a perfect after work pick me up if your dashing out and don’t have time to style too much.
