The Magic of Collagen – Keep the Wrinkles Away

Celebrities can hide behind a soft focus lens or let an airbrush touch them up before they face the world. Often they go further and reach for the botox or book themselves in for a facelift and never look the same again. What we all have in common is the desire to hold back the years and try and preserve smooth, flawless skin. The replenishment of collagen is the easiest, painless and effective answer.
Collagen isn’t something new, it’s been around as long as the human race, we would be lost without it, as collagen makes up 75% of our skin. There are different types of collagen, so for skin repair and rejuvenation, it’s important that the right type is used to rebalance and increase collagen levels.

“Type I” Collagen - is the most abundant collagen in the body, found in skin, bones, tendons and other tissues. Particularly in scar tissues.

“Type III” Collagen – is found in fast growing tissue, in wound repair. A child has an abundance of “Type III”, which is why their skin is so soft and heals quickly.

Over the years, collagen in the skin declines, “Type III” collagen decreases and is replaced by “Type I”, this builds up until the age of 35, when the skin reaches its peak. After that “Type I” starts to decline. It’s around this time that laughter lines are no longer funny and poor skin texture starts our alarm bells ringing. Not only does skin sag and start heading south, it also leaves a map of the route.

Collagen Degradation
It’s no surprise that somewhere along the way the idea of putting collagen back into the skin was born. Although UV rays, smoking, chlorinated water and problems with glucose metabolism, can all have a destructive effect on collagen, there are advances being made to help reverse the damage. In a number of studies, Marine Collagen has been shown to stimulate both “Type I and III” collagen synthesis.

Dermatologists and plastic surgeons have used serum for many years to support the healing process and the regeneration of the skin following plastic surgery, laser or skin peeling treatments.

Anti-Ageing
The product range we are featuring is called BioCol. Its main component – soluble marine collagen – has been processed by using a unique and patented method, which preserves most of its moisture retaining properties. It is obtained from the collagen tissue of tropical warm-water fish. The fact that it is soluble, enables it to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and help replenish the body’s own collagen stores while at the same time stimulating collagen production to enable tissue renewal. Improvements are seen in the smoothness and firmness of the skin and lines become less visible.

Here are a selection of customer comments:

The Serum is unbelievable – it has taken years off my face and all my clients want to buy it now. And I longer have a shaving rash. Combined with Velvet Skin and Cleansing Gel – this is my skin care routine now.” - Pablo A., Hampshire.

I would not consider switching back to heavy moisturising creams again now. Initially, I had been sceptical about the proposed benefits of exchanging my moisturising creams for the Serum and Velvet Skin, but the rapid improvement in the condition of my skin has really spoken for itself.
Amber Grewal, WGC.

I got the Serum from a Shopping Channel initially and thought it was amazing - I noticed a difference in my skin during the first week of using it. When they told me it was no longer available I almost panicked - but now I am over the moon I found it on the Internet again. I can even get it when I go to America later this year.
Kim R., Dorset.

We saw BioCol at a beauty show and were impressed with the demonstration so we decided to stock it. Our regular customers tried the BioCol Marine Intensive Collagen treatment – and returned to the salon a few days later just to tell us how wonderful their skin feels. They had never done that before!” - Amanda, Norwich.

Velvet Skin – BioCol Award-winning product!
Voted Moisturiser of the year 2002 by WOMAN magazine.

Another of BioCol’s products has quite a following amongst the movers and shakers. A translucent moisturising fluid that makes your skin feel silky smooth and gives it that dewy look. Its precious ingredients stimulate skin regeneration and it is an ideal moisturiser and make-up base.

Harpers & Queen writes: …”Velvet Skin is a Harpers favourite; we have dubbed it the facial in a bottle”… Its lightweight texture makes it suitable for all skin types and the perfect protection for summer days.
“I have just received the package in today’s post - thank you so much.... Sadie (Frost) and I are both grateful as we love BioCol products”

Kindest regards,
Jemima French” (FrostFrench.com)
It is also included in Julia Carling’s beauty handbook (Beauty Scoop) for consumers as one of the “7 best skin primers” with the testers’ testimonials reading as follows:

I’m at an age where my face is beyond repair so it was nice to use something that really did make a difference to my skin and my make-up. I truly did look better for it” (Lou, 68)

It was good value because a tiny drop of it goes a long way; it
must have some clever ingredients in it to make it go over my
skin so smoothly. It’s as if it’s on wheels
”. (Frances, 42)
