UNPARELLED 2010 GRAND FINALE

The L’Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy Grand Final transformed
the Grosvenor House Ballroom into an exclusive space with
over 52 metres of futuristic runway immersed in dazzling lighting.
Throughout the evening (28th June) over 1000 of the industry’s
most successful and Artistic figures were steered wittily
through the evenings show and awards by the ultra cool presenter
George Lamb whose humour and charm ensured a non stop high
energy and upbeat atmosphere.

Professionnel Colour Trophy Winner
Abacus from Bewdley won the hairdressing industry’s most fashion
forward and acclaimed award, the L’Oréal Professionnel Colour
Trophy. The stunning model look that captured the judges was
inspired by Christopher Kane Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 and merged
an iconic Purdy shape with rich warm, glossy browns. Second
place was handed to the Cutting Crew team in Willesden Green
and John Gillespie in Perth was awarded third place.

L’Oréal Professionnel Men’s Image Award
The closely watched L’Oréal Professionnel Men’s Image Award
unveiled a downpour of exciting Men’s hairdressers throughout
the regional tour and came to a high with first place being
awarded to TONI&GUY; in Guildford. Their fashion conscious
model look encapsulated the modern yet debonair gentleman
with soft blonde tones worked into a heavy swept fringe combined
with a razor sharp cut. Closely behind the winners were runners-up
Trevor Sorbie in Covent Garden.

Young Colourist Award
The always inspiring L’Oréal Professionnel Young Colourist
Award was won by the super talented and fresh thinking Ayesha
Caton from Mack in Chelmsford. Her model look was bold yet
stylishly simple, a softly sculptured haircut with a strong
solid edge and softened with gentle colour placement. This
beautiful blend of wearable colour and couture inspired styling
was a strong winner amongst an amazingly talented group of
finalists.

Mizani Afro Catwalk Award
The Mizani Afro Catwalk Award was handed to Elements in Teddington
the winning look was a fierce modern take on the iconic Grace
Jones cut with delicately placed colour for a softer finish.
The model team merged pristine white, military styling and
vivid make-up for an overall look that created runway drama.
The grand ballroom came alive on the night
The evening began with fashion explosion as the TONI&GUY; Art
team engulfed the stage in true couture culture with 19 models
draped in pieces by designers including William Tempest and
Giles Deacon. The show was brought to a mesmerizing finale
with dancers incased in robotic shells that gradually came
to life on-stage each following stunning models with hair
moulded and weaved into intricate Avant-Guard creations.
The room then came alive as the Grand Final. Mizani and Young
Colourist judges were welcomed on stage - Ruth Hunsley, Alan
Edwards, Nathan Walker, Trevor Sorbie MBE, Junior Green, Kim
Johnson, Michelle Thompson, Terry Calvert, Jason Miller, Charlie
Miller, Jo Hansford, Dylan Bradshaw, Gary Hooker, Michael
Young, Hooker, Errol Douglas MBE, Andrew Barton, Richard Ward,
Guy Kremer.
Throughout dinner hairdressing pioneer Daniel Galvin created
beautiful hair for six ‘Britain’s Next Top Model’ finalists
and was accompanied by the wonderfully talented Misty Miller
on-stage.
Following dinner the room was submerged into a magical journey
by BROOKS+BROOKS who created a storm on stage with 3D stage
effects and hypnotizing light merging together amongst bizarre
yet beautiful artistry titled Metamorphosis.
The party carried on into the night with the super chic after-event
immaculately lead by one of the most accomplished music magnets
- DJ Nikki ‘Beatnik’, hailed as ‘the best female DJ in London’
by Time Out magazine.
If you didn’t go to the big event this year, make sure you’re
there in 2011.
